Mumbai: Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, is on its way to surpass the 2011 annual sales figure (Jan-Dec 2011: 5511 units) with an impressive sale of 5406 units in the first 8 months (Jan-Aug 2012). Powering ahead with its positive outlook for 2012, the brand with the four rings recorded a 48 percent growth rate YTD (Jan-Aug 2011: 3655 units). The luxury carmaker registered a total sale of 726 units in August 2012, a growth rate of 42 percent over the same period last year (August 2011: 510 units).
“The year 2012 has been remarkable for Audi in India. Our steady growth amidst the challenging market conditions in the luxury car segment is not only commendable but also showcases the faith our customers have entrusted in us. With a total of 5406 units sold this year so far, we are confident of steering towards, and potentially surpassing, our target of 8000 units this year.” said Mr. Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.
“Our customers are able to identify with our brand equity, which drives on sportiness, progressiveness and sophistication. This is fuelling our growth in India and we continue to be the fastest growing brand in the luxury car segment. We are expanding our reach and we plan to add 5 more dealerships by the end of this year to our existing network of 20.” added Mr. Perschke.
Audi India continues to be the market leader in the luxury SUV segment in India with Audi Q5 and Audi Q7. The launch of Audi Q3 has further consolidated its dominance in the luxury SUV segment in India. The brand with the four rings continues to be the segment leader also in the sports car segment with Audi R8, Audi RS5 and the new Audi TT Coupè.
Audi is focused to strengthen its national footprint across India. The company recently opened new showrooms in Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Delhi West, Nagpur and Bhopal. Last year, the luxury carmaker opened new showrooms in Delhi South, Chennai, Ludhiana, Surat and Indore. Further developments include Lucknow and Goa among others.
The Audi model range in India includes the new Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A7 Sportback, Audi A8L, Audi Q3, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi S4, Audi RS5 Coupé, Audi TT Coupé, the super sports car Audi R8 and the Audi R8 Spyder available across the country: in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi South, Delhi West, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mumbai West, Nagpur, Navi Mumbai, Pune and Surat.
