India’s Aditya Patel set to fight for the title.

The inaugural Blancpain GT Series Asia Championship is set to witness a thrilling finale at the Zhejiang international Circuit in China this weekend. After 5 rounds across Asia, three cars remain in contention for the title, one of which is the Audi R8 LMS GT3 piloted by Indian GT ace Aditya Patel and Malaysian teammate, Mitch Gilbert.

The duo began their campaign on a high note by becoming the first ever winners of the Blancpain GT Series Asia by winning the first race in Sepang. However, a couple of incidents during the course of the season saw the OD Racing Audi fall to third place after a tyre blowout in Suzuka while leading the race in the hands of Patel.

Backed by Audi India and Jubilant Motorworks, the Chennai racer is set to take the title challenge all the way till the end. The championship is currently lead by the Hong-kong duo of Marchy Lee and Shaun Thong while British driver, Hunter Abbott lies a close 2nd. Patel and Gilbert are a further 24 points behind in 3rd. With 50 points up for grabs this weekend, it’s anybody’s game.

The series has proved to be one of the most successful and competitive Championships in Asian Motorsport and has attracted a host of top drivers from around the world..

“It’s definitely going to be a very close fight to the finish. Mitch and I have been quick right through the season, however, a couple of incidents dropped us behind a little. Nevertheless, we are ready to fight hard till the finish and our aim is to go out there to win races this weekend.”, said Aditya before heading into the weekend.
