Aurangabad is in the State of Maharashtra, in the west of India, and has a population of over one million. The Škoda Auto India Private Limited plant has a total workforce of 1,200 – including around 60 working on the production of Audi models and in related areas (as at: December 31, 2010).
A total of 2,466 Audi vehicles were built at Aurangabad in 2010 – 810 of the Audi A6, 1,224 of the Audi A4 and 432 of the Audi Q5. In total, 3,648 vehicles have therefore been built in Aurangabad since production started there in September 2007.
Audi has had its own sales subsidiary based in Mumbai since early 2007, to control all Indian market activities. Audi’s presence on the Indian market is growing especially thanks to the systematic development and expansion of the sales and dealer structure. By March 2011, there were already 13 exclusive Audi dealers and 13 showrooms.
