Bratislava is in the far south-west corner of Slovakia. The capital has a population of around 433,000 and is the biggest city in the country. It enjoys an exceptionally advantageous location, being the only capital city in the world to be situated bordering two other countries – Austria and Hungary.
As the country’s political, cultural and economic centre, Bratislava is not only Slovakia’s seat of government, but also a city with several universities, museums, theatres and other economic, cultural and scientific institutions.
