Driving through flooded roads should be avoided, however, if you need to drive through a flooded road, please make a note of the below:
1. The water wading depth of the Audi e-tron is 500 mm. However, during adverse conditions we recommend caution as mentioned below.
2. Check the type of road surface under the water, the strength of the current, and the depth of the water. The water must not be higher than the vehicle's underbody, even allowing for landslides, strong currents, and waves.
3. Drive carefully and not faster than the walking pace so that any waves created by the momentum of the car do not splash over the underbody. Bear in mind that waves can also be created by oncoming traffic.
4. Do not stop the car in the water.
5. Do not drive in reverse and do not switch off the power unit. (After driving through water carefully apply brakes to dry them thereby restoring full braking power)
Yes, the energy recuperation system of the Audi e-tron has the ability to recuperate energy. It does this by recovering energy from the wheel axles and converting it to an electric charge, the additional energy is then stored directly in the high-voltage battery. Audi e-tron can recuperate up to 30% energy.
The Audi e-tron features two types of recuperation via coasting or braking which can be activated by:
Deceleration (“One-Pedal”) Recuperation - On your MMI you can choose between automatic or manual modes of recuperation. In automatic mode, the car will decide whether to coast or to recuperate depending on the driving situation. Manual mode is activated once you select one of three recuperation levels via the steering wheel paddle. Once you release the accelerator pedal, the electric motors act as a generator converting a large proportion of the car’s kinetic energy into electrical energy which is stored in the high voltage battery and increases the battery’s range.
Braking Recuperation - This happens automatically when you press the brakes. The kinetic energy that was propelling the car forward escapes. But instead of being wasted as heat, kinetic energy is recovered from the wheel axles and is turned into an electric charge. In turn, this energy recharges the car’s electric battery and increases range. When you need to come to a stop quickly, the car will switch from recuperating using the electric motor to using the brake discs to slow you down, the transition between the two is seamless.
Any component using electricity would influence the range of e-tron. Sudden accelerations, high-speed driving, air conditioning, headlights etc would impact range. The customer must ensure that the range mode is on and try to use the recuperation function for getting the maximum range.
Officially declared mileage i.e. WLTP, is based on certain testing conditions which under practical conditions cannot be achieved. This is similar to the fuel consumption of a conventional fuel (petrol/diesel) vehicle. The cruising range is directly influenced by power used, electrical equipment usage, driving conditions (uphill, corners, slippery roads etc.) and individual driving behavior.
