"Timeslip"The 2011 Audi Tradition Calendar

It all started with a fascinating idea: to photograph the Auto Union silver arrows once again at the historic racing circuits where they enjoyed many great triumphs in the thirties, as well as some bitter defeats. The result is an impressive calendar with high artistic standards and maximum authenticity.

The racing circuits

Photographer Stefan Warter snapped the Auto Union silver arrows in nine historic original settings, for example at the Klausen Pass in Switzerland. The last hillclimb race took place there in 1934. Also at the Nürburgring, in Monte Carlo, Reims, Monza, at Donington Park in England and in Bern, Spa-Francorchamps and Zandvoort.

The drivers

Not only were the circuit owners enthusiastic about the spectacular calendar project. Former Formula 1 drivers Jacky Ickx and Hans-Joachim Stuck were also immediately up for the job. In period racing gear they become the key figures of "Timeslip" – along with Pink Floyd drummer and the "last Auto Union works driver", Nick Mason.

The motifs

Jacky Ickx drives an Auto Union Type C around the historic street circuit of his current home town of Monaco. Hans-Joachim "Striezel" Stuck is to be seen on the Nürburgring, in Bern and on the Klausen Pass. – On the mountain in the Auto Union Type A he wears his father's original racing goggles and helmet. Hans Stuck came second here in 1934, following his victory at the Nürburgring. Nick Mason drives the Auto Union Type D "on his home Grand Prix circuit" at Donington Park in England. The silver arrows were victorious there in 1937 and 1938.
